Our wonderful location in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside makes Greensands the perfect base from where to explore the surrounding countryside be it by car, on foot or by bike. Oxford, the City of Dreaming Spires is only 14 miles to the North whilst to the South you will find the Berkshire Downs with nothing but miles and miles of open countryside. Those who explore this area can expect to see some of our wonderful natural wildlife which includes all species of deer and the fabulous bird of prey the Red Kite which habitates this and very few other areas of this country. Ramblers and Walkers
The East Hendred area is easy to explore with footpaths literally across the road form our building that you will allow you to walk for for many miles as you can manage in virtually any direction without seeing a motorised vehicle! Packed lunches can be available with prior notice as can a hearty end of the day evening meal should you decide to avail yourself of the fine local hostelries (Three!) To be found in the village. Mountain Bikers
Being situated at the foot of the Berkshire Downs and within easy reach of the Ridgeway make Greensands the ideal base for a biking weekend. Mountain bikers are always welcome and in addition to offering you a hearty cooked breakfast we also have lock up facilities for your biking equipment along with the nearly always needed jetwash to remove that mud after a hard days exploring. With sufficient notice we can accommodate parties of up to 20 bikers by using both of our accommodation venues which are only 100 metres from each other. |

Wedding Parties
Whilst we do not offer wedding facilities at Greensands we can offer those attending weddings nearby a convenient place to stay that is within easy reach of some of the more popular local wedding venues such as Lain's Barn. For large groups we can also offer special rates. Just contact us for a quotation. Remember we are only 20 minutes from Oxford and the towns of Didcot and Wantage are less than 10 minutes drive. Local taxi services will also pick up and collect for those towns. |
